Music videos were quite relevant once.
Music videos used to live exclusively on television channels like MTV and VH1, before migrating to internet platforms like YouTube and Vimeo. Most of the time, these were just creatively edited footage of the band performing the song, sometimes intercut with a sort of short film. Sometimes, though, a band or a video director took things to the next level. Sometimes, a music video was not merely a companion to provide a song with some visuals, but rather stood out all on its own as a work of art—a masterpiece, even. Some of them were remarkable for what they achieved, technically, narratively, or aesthetically. Others, we just like. Here are some of our favorites.
